Michael “Pine” Phillips and Wendi Sirat, Rappahannock residents since 1991, have recently opened a new shop called Sage. The shop is in the Rappahannock Wellness Center, which is located on the upper floor of the Hearthstone School building, two miles west of Sperryville on Route 211. Sage carries masks, drums equipment, and herbal products, all flowing from the interests of it’s proprietors.
For Phillips and Sirat, Sage is the culmination of many years of varying experience, all of which has played a role in the creation and philosophy of the shop.
“We see the shop as a way to bring together many of the things we love, and as an extension of our experiences in the natural products industry, working with plants, drums, music and children,” said Sirat.
In 1991, Sirat and Phillips were managers at a health food store in Warrenton, Virginia. Sirat was also making handmade jewelry, which she sold at the store. Now Sirat’s jewelry is on sale at Sage along with merchandise from several other local artisans, including masks by artist Peggy Schadler and
