Locust Hill hosts Orange

County Hunt April 1

Sticking with the successful Sunday meet model they created two years ago to avoid conflicting with a rich National Steeplechase Association race in Camden, S.C., the Orange County Hunt Point-to-Point April 1 benefits from strong entries and full fields.

The open timber attracted 11 entries, including 2006 national timber champ Askim, Maryland Hunt Cup prepper Bowman’s Crossing, and classic runner Straight Gin. The novice timber also drew 11.

Rounding out the card are three over hurdles (amateur, maiden and open) and a novice rider flat.

First post is 1 p.m. at the Locust Hill Farm course located on Zulla Road south of U.S. 50 near Middleburg. For parking or ticket information, call (540) 687-6528.
