Many thanks goes out to Don Loock and Katie Walsh of Piedmont Environmental Council. They have made it possible for the Town of Washington to be part of the ImEEN movement. They allowed us to distribute 144 of their free 15watt CFL to the citizens, businesses and government offices in the town Our goal is to have 100 percent of the buildings in town using at least one of these energy saving, pollution preventing light bulbs. Special thanks to everyone who took up the challenge at the Ibwn Council meeting and agreed to go door to door and distribute the light bulbs. Diane Bruce, Mitzi Young and Margaret Gottlieb, Michelle and Gary Schwartz, John and Diane MacPherson, Jerry Goebel and Tferi Sullivan, Jean Goodine, and especially Kevin Adams and Jay Brown for taking three blocks in town. Margaret and Mitzi gave theirs out before the weekend and reported that most of our citizens had already jumped on the band wagon and switched many of their light bulbs to CFL.
The Town had started changing their lamps in the Town Hall last year and no one noticed a difference in the 26watt CFL versus the lOOwR’s that had been there. It doesn’t hurt to go GREEN. Even Little Washington can make a big difference.
