Expenditures

What is the per-pupil expenditure for 2007-2008?

Two recent public statements by citizens suggest that the projected per-pupil expenditures for the RCPS (if the proposed budget is approved as submitted) will be $10,809 and $12,000 respectively.

FACT We cannot provide an accurate estimate for next year until we know the exact bottom line of the 2007-08 budget and we determine whether there are unanticipated facilities expenditures. We should be able to make that calculation in March 2008. If the budget is approved as submitted, the perpupil expenditure will exceed $11,000.

NOTE: The $10,890 figure was on a document provided to the public at the March 20 School Board meeting. That figure is the estimated per-pupil expenditures for FY07 which is the current school year 20062007, not the 2007-2008 year.

FACT The State s per-pupil expenditure formula is as follows: Tbtal expenditures less (-) debt service = less (-) capital expenditures=_less (-) facilities expenditures= new total expenditures / (divided by) endof-yearADM
