The steady rain that fell Sunday evening could not dampen, the spirits of the 17 Wakefield Country Day School (WCDS) students who were the focus of the school’s 2007 closing ceremonies.
Family, faculty, and friends, along with the entire upper school student body, gathered in the Leonard M. Cowherd auditorium to celebrate the end of another year, congratulating the seniors on their accomplishments and recognizing students for their work during the academic year.
The evening was marked by mixed emotions, as speakers recounted shared experiences - both victories and sorrows, as well as humorous moments, during the journey to graduation day.
Father Robert DeMartino of St. Peter’s parish delivered the invocation, in which he quoted from the Book of Sirach, and then the audience sang “The Star Spangled Banner.”
Introductory remarks were given by Head of School Kathleen Grove, who said, in part, “The 2007 Wakefield Country Day School seniors are a remarkable group of young men and women. They have worked hard to arrive at this point, and they share
