An ongoing battle between a contractor’s operation and neighbors on Seven Ponds Road in Amissville seems to be nearing some closure.
B&S Site Development owner Michael L. Brown Jr. continues to deny that he is violating the county’s zoning ordinance, but he has agreed to a consent order that requires him to move several pieces of business-related equipment off his property by June 18.
Neighbors of the property have complained about noise and traffic caused by activity at the site. B&S applied last winter for a special-exception permit to operate a contractor’s yard on the 25-acre lot, but the county supervisors unanimously denied the request
McCarthy said Brown’s attorneys and county officials had to rewrite the order several times before both parties agreed on its wording.
The advantage to the county, McCarthy said, is the document spells out what constitutes a use that falls within the category of a contractor’s yard. If the violations described in the consent order continue, county officials will be able to pursue the matter
