Address. In his remarks, Mr. Dale not only celebrated his fellow graduates’ accomplishments but also spoke with pride of his fourteen years at Wakefield, and what that experience had meant to him. He said, in part,
"Ibday we are not just graduates from high school, but from Wakefield, a place that has instilled in us a sense of pride and humility, helping us realize our fortunate and blessed circumstances, while directing us to use our advantages to give back. Some people wonder what we could have learned about life in this school, it being in such a beautiful, remote area with an atmosphere dissimilar to the real world. Wakefield is much more than a school, it’s a lifestyle.”
The final event on the program was the traditional “ringing of the bell,” carried out by the three students who had been together at WCDS since kindergarten: Patrick Dale, Kate Kevis and Ben Luke. As the graduates marched out beaming to the strains of Pachelbel’s “Canon in D,” one could sense the joy and anticipation they felt as they closed one chapter in their fives and prepared to begin a new one.
WCDS has once again maintained its record of 100 percent college acceptance, and all seventeen seniors will be going on to colleges and universities throughout the United States having received over $550,000 in merit scholarship offers.
