Page pulls out
Last month, Page County pulled out of the proposal altogether. Page County Administrator Mark Belton, said that the regional jail would put too much of a burden on Page County taxpayers, already faced with paying for two high schools and a County Office Building.
Belton also agreed that the loss of the Page County site proposal was also a factor. "There would have been benefits to having the jail in our county” he said.
Page County’s withdrawal left Shenandoah County, Warren County and Rappahannock County to prop up the existing application.
“With the loss erf Page, we don’t need as big of a facility but we have to examine changes in the plan,” said Warren County Administrator Doug Stanley
