Bull Run series
The local Bull Run Hunt will host a series of trail rides beginning June 9 at Freedom Fields at 10 a.m. Other rides are June 20 at Hawfield Grange at 9:30 a.m., July 14 at the BRH clubhouse at 9 a.m., July 21 at the Preserve at 9 a.m., Aug. 18 at Maple Lawn at 9 a.m., and Sept 2 at Birmingham Farm at 9 a.m.

Mellon film
The National Gallery of Art will premiere a new hour-long documentary featuring rarely seen images and footage of benefactor ffeul Mellon on June 9 at 1 p.m., with a second showing on June 10 at 5 p.m. in the East Building auditorium at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Upperville’s Mellon, who loved equestrian sports, is known to many as the breeder of legendary racehorses Mill Reef and 1993 Kentucky Derby winner Sea Hero. He once said, “Over the years, I’ve bred some very good horses, but a hundred years from now, the only place my name will turn up anywhere will be in the studbook, for I was the breeder of Mill Reef”
“Raul Mellon: In His Own Wards,” a film celebrating the centenary of Paul Mellon’s birth, will be available as a free download on Apple iTunes starting June 11. The broadcast premiere is slated for June 13 and 16 at 9 p.m. on WETA-TV, channel 26 in Washington, D.C. Other public television stations will air it this fall.
