Saturday, May 12, marked the graduation ceremony for Joshua David Alther of Washington.
Proud parents, grandparents and friends gathered to celebrate the special occasion at Gid Brown Bible Baptist Church in Washington.
There was special singing by his best friends, Kimberly and Robin Sommerdorf from Wasilla, Alaska.
Pastor John K. Burke introduced and offered the opening invocation. He thanked the Lord for the blessing of Joshua Alther. It was a heart-felt prayer that graciously led the way for the rest of the program to bring great honor to God.
Dr. Vinton Williams of Warrenton delivered the message that focused on understanding the individual bent of Joshua developing a commitment to academic excellence, acquiring a lifestyle of learning and above all maintaining a sincere love and devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ.
For 13 years his mother, Judy Alther, has given her life to teaching Joshua the basics of education. It was as mud) a graduation for her a£ it was for him. She taught him how to read, write and do math. But most importantly, she taught him about the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Both mom and dad have shared with him the miracle of Christ. Through their teaching, they have not only prepared him academically for life, but they have taught him how to be a man of God in this world.
