Gary Sellers who for many years owned and operated Cherries-on-Top Orchard near Flint Hill, the orchard will not be open this year. Determan reported that the late freeze on the mountain burned many if not most of the buds. In addition, it was not possible to order bees at this late date to pollinate the orchard on time this year. Therefore, the popular cherry orchard will not be open this year. Future plans have not been announced.

back for new Sperryville business
The new owner of the Old Sperryville Bookshop building is still finalizing plans to convert the former Episcopal church into a guitar shop and Internet cafe.
Brian Compton said Friday that he hopes to open for business by late-summer or early-fall. He bought the 105-year-old Main Street structure in January.
“We’re just finishing up the insurance and paperwork,” Compton said. “It’s been a kind of long process, but we’re planning to start renovations soon.”
