“Our goal was to shut them out and keep them under 100 yards,” junior Dean Hogan said. “We played our best game of the year on both sides of the ball. That’s why we won.”
Butler had a career day for the Panthers as he completed 9-of-16 passes'for 148 and two touchdowns.
“The first quarter I was having trouble getting into a groove,” Butler said. “After that I settled down and started to get on the same page with our receivers. What I’m really excited about is our defense and special teams. It’s nice when you walk off the field after scoring a touchdown, and then your defense goes out and scores on the next play.”
The Panthers finished with 257 yards of total offense, including 109 on the ground. Fitzmorris led RCHS with 74 yards rushing.
Rappahannock County’s next game against Clarke County — scheduled for Saturday — has been postponed due to a recent staph infection outbreak at RCHS. The game is likely to be canceled all together. It’s a disappointment for the Panthers and Coach Williams.
