Motorcyclists
get jail time
Surya Kumar Lamech, Shyam Sundar Radhakrishan and Abir Shomes received jail sentences on Oct. 9 for reckless driving on their high-performance motorcycles.
State Trooper Phillip Thomas stopped the motorcyclists on July 4 on U.S. 211, where the speed limit is 55 miles per hour. Lamech, of Herndon, was clocked going 105 miles per hour. Radhakrishan, of Fairfax, and Shomes, of Ashbura, were both caught going 95 miles per hour.
The men were traveling together on July 4 and were cooperatively represented by Kosa So in court. The three pleaded no contest to the speeding charges, but their attorney asked Judge Charles B. Foley to spare them from serving jail time. So said the men have already been punished with fines and have taken driver-safety courses and performed community service to make up for the offenses.
