Smith said she suspects Donovan has more checks still circulating in Rappahannock. If anyone has received a check from Donovan that they suspect may have been forged, they should call Smith at the Rappahannock County Sheriffs Office at 675-5300.

A preliminary hearing for Julie M. Connor was held Oct. 9 in Rappahannock County General District Court. Connor has been charged with the possession of nearly 3 pounds of marijuana.
The Washington, D.C., woman was charged with the felony after a traffic stop on July 14 on U.S. 211. State Trooper Phillip Thomas said he pulled Connor over for going 74 miles per hour in the 55-miles-per-hour zone.
Thomas testified that during the stop, he could smell marijuana and Connor consented to a search of her vehicle. The trooper said he found marijuana in a kitty fitter container in front of the front passenger seat. Thomas said Connor explained that she was on her way to a party in Luray.
Thomas also said he found a scale in the vehicle and presented it for evidence, along with the kitty fitter container and what lab tests have confirmed is marijuana. The trooper said he also found a smoking device in the vehicle.
In addition to the felony charge, Connor was charged with four misdemeanors stemming from the traffic stop. Those four misdemeanor charges were for driving under the influence, speeding, carrying a concealed weapon and a first offense for possession of marijuana. Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke told Judge Charles B. Foley that he has decided to- drop the four misdemeanor charges and is only pursuing the felony charge.
