A representative from Congressman Eric Cantor's office will be available to cfiscuss constituent concerns on Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 12:30 p.m. —1:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Library, 4 Library Road, Washington, VA. Congressman Cantor provides this service so that constituents who need assistance or have problems of a federal nature may speak with a representative from his office. Citizens are also welcome to express their opinions on matters erf concern, particularly national topics or issues before the United States Congress. An 8-hour classroom refresher course designed for those 50 and over will be offered at the Willis Chapel United Methodist Church, 1804 Zachery Taylor Hwy, Huntly, VA on Wednesday, October 31 from 8:30 am. - 5 p.m. Those completing this 8hour course will receive a certificate, which should reduce auto insurance costs. NO Exams. The cost js $10 (to cover the costs of materials). Class size is limited. All drivers should bring their drivers license to class. Come tour the studios of 16 artists and visit 10 participating galleries. Sponsored by the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and Community, this annual event draws hundreds to Rappahannock as the artists of the county are celebrated. Pops Walker of Luray and Brooke Rarkhust of Flnt Hill win entertain acoustic music fans in a concert at the Theatre in Washington on Saturday Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. The concert will benefit Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Pops has been entertaining fans for some 20 years. He’s performed in various venues around the world. While uptempo blues is his favorite style, it's only part of his repertoire. Listening to any of his recordings, one can hear bits of folk, jazz, country, and a tidy Kttte genre called Southern Fried Zen Mojo, a phrase coined just for him. Brooke Parkhurst is Washington Area Music Award Winning (WAMMIE) artel She is an accomplished singer, vibrant banjo player and performer. Influences as diverse as Peter, Paul and Mary October Project Silly Wizard, and Joe Jackson mark her style. Brooke will be accompanied by WAMMIE-winrong guitar and mandolin virtuoso, Avnl Smith.
