Fifty-five Rappahannock County public school students received award certificates on Tuesday, Oct 9, for achieving perfect scores on the Standards of Learning (SOL) tests.
Tlie results are from tests administered last school year to students at Rappahannock County Elementary School. Rappahannock County High School students who achieved perfect scores an the SOLs will be honored at a later date, as will those students who made significant improvement an the tests.
Noting haw perfection is rarely ever obtained, Rappahannock County Elementary School Principal Carol Johnson spoke of the students’ accomplishment.
“This evening we have 55 students who, yes, were perfect,” die said.
Johnson called each of the students to the front of the elementary school auditorium, where Rappahannock County Public Schools Superintendent Dr Bob Chappell and school board member Aline Johnson handed them a paper certificate.
A room full of parents, brothers and sisters cheered.
Standards of Learning tests are used by the. Virginia Department of Education to assess student achievement. The tests are tailored to specific subject areas, including math, science, history and English.
The students honored on Tuesday had achieved a perfect score on one or more of the subject tests.
