I’ve been listening to the weather people talk about this being the driest it’s been in eight years, and I have to disagree with them. It’s drier than that. I may not be quite as old as dirt, but this is as dry as I have seen it in a long time.

There are long stretches on the Jordon River where there isn’t a drop of water running, just rocks bleached white by the sun. There is still a little pool of water here and there, but it is a disaster for the fish and crayfish and minnows and everything that gets its sustenance from the water.

I haven’t heard too much bad news about people’s wells going dry, and I hope you still have some good water. My son just had a well drilled for a new house, and they had to go 350 feet. The house is pretty high up on a hill, but, still, that’s a long way to get water.

Maybe by the time you read this, we will have received a shower or two. I certainly hope so. I went to an old frog pond and got a couple of barrels of water for some plants Linda had set out in a new flower bed, and we have been trying to be care
