The order to pull Post 1150’s charter came from the VFWs national headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., but the state VFW office in Staunton will take possession of the post’s funds and assets. Hitt said Post 1150 had more than $7,000 spread between one checking account and two certificates of deposit. The post’s money will go into the general funds for the state VFW.
All Post 1150 members will be transferred to membership “at large,” which is for those who do not have a nearby post to join.
