County Administrator John McCarthy is recommending that Fletcher’s application be approved. McCarthy said a hunting club is allowed without a permit as an agricultural use. The property is large enough to ameliorate any significant impact the use would have on adjacent landowners, he added.
McCarthy is also suggesting a list of 10 conditions to protect the scenic value of the byway and lessen the impacts on the environment and neighboring property owners.
In his application, Fletcher writes that the revenue from the accommodations and hunting dub will allow him to keep the property in the family.
The planning commission will discuss the Miller Farm proposal at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Rappahannock County Courthouse, located on Gay Street in the Town of Washington. The public is welcome to attend the meeting and comment on the application.
