Chappell said school administrators are considering the possibility of cutting costs.
Junk said he’s been following the school’s enrollment numbers for several years. He expects enrollment to continue to decrease from about 940 this year to 900 in the next six years or so. Enrollment peaked at about 1,100 in the 1970s, he said.
He said student-teacher ratio in 1998-99 school year was 17 to 1 and now it’s 12 to 1. Several teaching positions could be eliminated at the schools, while still maintaining a healthy studentteacher ratio, he said.
