Mike also hopes to organize his own professional fishing team to bring into the FLW Outdoors circuit. He said most teams have about three fishermen. Ideally, he added, a company from Virginia would be their sponsor.
“It’s a great opportunity,” he said. “I think this is a growing sport, the fan base is growing by leaps and bounds, and I believe there are opportunities for businesses to get involved as well."
Fans often come out in boats to watch tournaments, Mike said, and bleachers are set up around the areas where the fish are weighed at larger tournaments. His wife, Teresa, comes to tournaments to cheer him on whenever she can, he said.
“More and more busmesses are realizing, to wrap a bass boat with their logos, they get a lot of exposure through the Internet and TV.” he said. “It's following the path that NASCAR has taken ”
