A recent release by Midlothian author Francis Marion Bush makes it in just under the wire for late Christmas gifts, a fitting photo finish for the Thoroughbred racing coffee table book.
Published by central Virginia’s Dementi Milestone Publishing, “Famous Horsewomen of Virginia: Their Stories With Horse Racing” features the tales of 23 Virginia women involved in the racing industry including several local equestriennes. The late Eve Prime Fout of The Plains is on the book’s cover.
Others featured include former Virginia Racing Commission chair Robin Traywick Williams; Secretariat’s owner Penny Tweedy; “Seabiscuit” author Laura HiUenbrand; legendary breeder Marion duPont Scott; Thoroughbred owner Nellie Cox; and veterinarian Dr. Olive Britt.
“It’s exciting and a tremendous honor to be in the same book with such legendary horsewomen,” Williams told the Goochland Gazette. “Tm thrilled to be included in the same breath with any of them.”
