a long distance over new transmission towers and lines where it will be used to meet the growing demand both here and in higher-rate markets in the north. Implementation of such a plan would incur a huge capital and environmental cost to t.he state.
A more sensible approach would be to create wastes-toenergy generation plants to serve the immediate customer. Such distributed generation would complement central power and it would be more reliable, higher quality and cheaper. It would reduce GHG emissions by avoiding long-distance transportation of power. And, it would make a community more sustainable and selfreliant by recycling discarded wastes and residues and, at the same tune, reduce its dependence on foreign oil or fossil
