John R. DeBergh Appointed
Probation and Parole Officer
John Randolph DeBergh has been appointed Probation and Parole Officer for the 11th Virginia district. He qualified Thursday, March 5 in the office of the cerk of Warren County Circuit Court
The eleventh district consists of the counties of Rappahannock, Fauquier, Loudoun, Warrdn, Page, Shenandoah, Frederick, Clark and the city of Winchester.
Mr. DeBergh’s past duties gives him a wide experience in dealing with his fellowman and therefore makes him especially qualified for his present duties.
Mr. DeBergh is thirty-fiVe years of age. He graduated from Washington High School as an horror student. He received his B.S. degree from VPI in 1940, majoring in auditing, accounting and salesmanship, also with the rank of 2nd Lt. in the reserve^ He was called to duty in October 1941, and served at Fort Benning as Company Commander of trainees in the Officers Candidate school and then Ft. McClellan as as ' batallion executive officer.
Lt DeBergh was then sent to Japan at General McArthur’s headquarters in Manila, where he was in command of a group of Australian and Dutch officers and American * enlisted men. He received his discharge April 6, 1946 with the rank of Major.
Mr. DeBergh was associated for the next five years with the Washington Coop. Fruit Growers. Since then Mr. DeBergh served two years as the assistant Veterans Instructor in the Rappahannock High School.
and Mrs. E. W. Raley. Mr. and Mrs. DeBergh reride at Harris Hollow Farm with Mr. DeBergh’s mother, Mrs. Elizabeth H. DeBergh. He has operated this farm since his return from service, together with other real estate beddings of his own.
