’Fessor Mitchell had a Friday afternoon spelling class. Words to learn were assigned on Monday morniqg and nothing more' was heard of them until Friday afternoon; but, no pupil left school on Friday afternoon until every word was mastered: spelling, definition, pronunciation, and use. Some of the boys decided one Friday they .would “sit the professor out,” in other words, they attempted to patch their adolescent wits with a gentleman who fcfcd been dealing with children for many a day. To state it mildly, the youngsters tackled a task far out of their class.
