Girls in the county are carrying »«wing projects, some the simpler ones like “So You’l Like to Sew” and older members more difficult ones like “Clothing Construction.” Girls carry food preparation, food for pep, and dairy foods, breads, housekeeping, canning, and laundry. Homs improve? ment is being carried on in a county-wide group which meets every two weeks. 'Girls are also giving lots of support to the rural electrification project end some have worked on home grounds beautification. You can see we have a much more varied list of projects and could carry many more. Lots of counties in the State are featuring the entomology project to help control insects like Japanese beetles. In this project members study insect control, make collections of insects and use poisons on harmful insects.
In conservation, members plant trees on cut-over land, build gully dams and work for wild life conservation. Some help to re-stock areas with pheasants by brooding the eggs under hens and letting < chicks loose in under-stocked areas. These are just examples of the projects that are being started in lots of counties. You can see that they would be fun and would also be very instructive. Perhaps in a year or so we will have some of them also.
The latest new program is one of awards given to former members, certificates to two jn a county. After finding such wonderful records of members we are eligible to award these certificates to some of these outstanding men and women.
This is an awards program, not a 4-H project. Awards are given in every project, for county, usually medals, area, district and State. District winners in some contests get gold watches and other awards. State winners get watches, staturees, U.S. Savings Bonds, trips to Club Congress, and certificates of Honor.

National winners' are awarded scholarships to college. The winner choaes his college, but donors would rather money went toward an agricultural or home economic course.
