was a most delightful supper served and after supper, a special entertainmerit was orovidcd by the com rainy con aiming of ventreloquism, magic and a little dancing artbt.
Tuesday morning our Battalion was the breakfast guest of Swift and Co. At 9:30 we bad a special educational tour through this great packing plant. This was very interesting for there we saw hogs, cattle, and sheep slaughtered and the different process they -were carHed lhroagtr before being packed for market. After we enjoyed ' a luncheon given by the Chicago Livestock Exchange, the girls were taken through the great Marshal Field and Co. Department Store, one of the largest department stores of the world. We saw a beautiful piece of tapestry here that cost twelve thousand dollars.
At 6:30 p.m., the club members had the annual Grand Rally and Banquet in the ball room of the Sherman Hotel After eating to our heart's content, we were highly entertained by William Ferguson, noted cartoonist of Corn Belt Farm Dailies. It was wonderful to see him draw *the funny cartoons in such a short time. An address by Hon. E. T. Meredith, former secretary of agriculture, was educational as welt as entertaining.
Wednesday morning we visited the plant of Montgomery Ward and Co., where a mighty good breakfast was served us and they gave us nice souyeniors. After breakfast we were entertained by a funny clown. Then we were taken all* through the establishment, which was very interesting for we saw the many employees and the care that was taken in wrapping and mailing each package.
Little wonder that it is such a popular mail order company. We could have stayed in anyone of these big establishments for days and enjoyed it, but we did not have time, so from there the girls went to the plant of the Northwestern Yeast Co. and had an instructive trip through the factory. We .saw what the yeast was made from and the different stages it was in before being made ino a yeast cake.
