Pvt. Cornelius Goud, son of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Goud, of Amissville, recenty arrived at the Engineer Replacement Training Center, Fort Eel voir, Virginia.
There he is undergoing 16 weeks of basic training to qualify him as a soldier of* the Corps of Engineers.
The first half of the four-month course he will spend as a member of a Training Company developing skills with weapons under field conditions.
The remaining time is to be devoted to engineering tasks such 'ks road, bridge and bulading construction; and to barbed wire obstacles, explosives, mines, camouflage and similar work.
At the close of the training period, most men will be assigned to units of the Army either overseas or in the United States.
However, meg with special skills may be selected for advanced specialists courses, and those who show eadership abi-ity may be chosen for further training to qualify them as future noncommissioned officers.
