' The future of the 4-H chib in this comity, as a winning, meaningful organization, depends a good deal ort leaders. The best are past members who are now aduhs. ™_Jdfew.j^Quldtkc..?]u and 30’s win so many prizes, when present dubs have never won any higher prize than an area contest? How did they win so many state prizes? Well, there was a little less 'competition but the main thing was that there was much better adult leadership. The county agent had anore time to work with each member; but each* community had one or two adult leaders, sometimes former members of 4-H clubs themselves. Each dub had a leader who really worked with R and leaders went on trips, provided transportation and helped plan programs. Leaders held meetings' when the agent didn’t have time and ■often leaders provided the meeting place.
Now, leaders, especially fpr boys, are hard to find. Maybe • nobody ever asked you to be a leader, mayho you didn’t know they were needed. Well, they are needed and if mbody has asked you before, we are asking you now. The county agent and the assistant agent just don’t have timsl to visit each boy’s project or help each member separately. The ciub meetings held once a month include business meetings, reports on activi- _ "lies, reports bit county council and finally, projet discussion. W'hea some toys are taking one project, some another and some have more experience than -others in the project, it’s pretty hard to help any one person much. They could help boys on one project while the agent worked on t another. They could help boys fill out record books and discuss projects with them.
