High milk production is being recorded by artificially sired cows in Virginia. -
Dr. K. A. Huston, associate dairy husbandman at VPI, says the first production report qn artifidally sired cows, in the state has just been released. It ’shows that 316 cows produced 9,279 pounds of milk and 395 pounds <of 'fat. This is twice the, production of the average dairy cow in Virginia in 1952.
Dr. Houston also says that latest reports point to 1952 as a record year for dairy cattle improvement. Over 42,000 cows, better thin 9 percent of all the dairy cows in the state, were artifidally bred to production-proven bulls. It is expected that over 46,000 cows will be bred artificially in 1953 ip Virginia.
