Our poultry team, Misses Anna Keyser and Majorie Snead won first in state and a trip to Chicago. Their demonstration was on * “Natural Brooding of Baby Chicks.” They stayed at Blacksburg an extra week to give their demonstration to the Farmers’ Institute, one of four teams iii the state selected for this honor.
A clipping from Rappahannock’s paper, The Blue Ridge Guide, rdad as follows: "Rappahannock 4-H Club Girls Win High Honors.” “The following is an extract from a letter received by the county agent from the Gub Department, Blacksburg, Va., under date of August 20th (26). Anna Keyser and Marjorie Snead of Rappahannock County have been selected to attend National 4-H Gub Congress in Chicago. The subject .of their demonstration "Natural Brooding of -Baby Chicks.” This means that these girls are to represent Virginia in club work at meeting of the National 4-H Gub Congress which is held annually at Chicago and is composed of demonstration teams from each state of he Union.” This is probably the highest honor that can be won by club members since the teams selected for this trip are those that make the highest scores in their respective projects and demonstrations.
Tt will be remembered that Anna and Marjorie were among 20 boys and girls from Rappahannock County who attended hte State Short Course in Blacksburg the first week in August; they were one of the four demonstration teams of 52 counties represented at Short Coure that were held over with all expenses paid, to give their demonstration before the Farmers’ Institute during the second week in August. All of the expenses of the Chicago trip will be paid1 by business men of the country who have become interestel in dub work and are giving of their means to encourage the junior farm demonstration woric which is conducted by the 4-H dub boys and girls.
The girls from Virginia will join representatives from other states at places to be designated by the Gub Department and will make the trip to Chicago in company with competent chaperones. On arriving in Chicago they will be entertained by such organizations as the Chamber
