After leaving this interesting place we went to the American Furniture Mart, the home of the furniture industry of America and the largest building in the world. The cost of this building Was ten million dollars and it covers an entire city block. It is sixteen stories high and contains 40 acres of floor space. At 6;30 a banquet was given .to the delegation in he ball room of La Salle Hotel as guests of National Livestock Producers Association. Thursday, we saw Mary Pickford in “Little Annie Rooney.” That night a final banquet was given us in the Gold Room of Congress Hotel by nine .Chicago railroads. One of the days we also went to the zoo where we saw bears and animals of all kinds and birds from every part of the world, ec.
Friday, we could go anywhere we wanted so we went to different stores and saw the beautiful Christmas decorations. We must not close without mentioning how generous the state was in furnishing us such a splendid and competent chaperone, Miss Burke. She did everything to make the trip happy for us.
We also wish to add that the state was most generous in is apportionment,, even paying for our shoe shines and the bananas we ate on the train. They toM us if they hadn’t put up money enough, to write for more; however it was more than enough so we had some to return. / Last but by no means least, let us remember that all of diis was made possible by our couny agent, Mr. Preston, who Whored so faithfully and perservingly the long summer hours teaching us our demonstration.”
Our group to District Shdk Course was larger that year (1925) too. We had 48, the largest number of any of the 6 courfties attending.
Courses of instruction were: Stock judging, potihry management and judging, agronomy and home economics.
Recreation included swimming, baseball and those wonderful new “movies”
