' ' The District Short Course was held at Swavely School at Manassas and the club members went to Washington sight-seeing.
Ned Jones and Ida Harley were taken into the Ah Stars this year. Marjorie Snead became leader for the SperryviUe club even though the only way she could reach diem was to ride horse-back or in a buggy over three miles of rough road. She wrote, "I hesitated to accept it but I am thankful that I did accept the honor and did my best, for it has been an inspiration to me and made me very happy in trying to train my Club boys and girls to more real and worthwhile living." ' ; !
New departments added to the county fair were Domestic Manufacture, Community exhibits and Cookery, Horses and Dogs.
The year of 1528 was a big one for Rappahannock. Three judging teams were entered in state contests. The poultry judging team won third place in the state. Gladys Newman won first place in the state and won ta trip to Madison Square Garden Poultry Show and made the highest score ever made by a girl in this contest. Remember that when the first agent came there was not one pure bred flock of chickens in the county. , Toi Harley and Lorie Newman gave a demonstration on “Trapnesting For Higher Egg Production” and won a trip to Camp Vail. A com judging team judged at the state contest at the State Fair. The county livestock team won fourth place jn. the state contest.
Jessie Miller Jones, Toi Harley and Dutch Updike were made All Stars.

Three cars left SperryviUe, Monday morning, July 25 at 5:45 o’clock .ferrying fifteen 4-H members from Rappahannock county to the State Short Course to be held at Blacksburg this weelcP. Rixey Jones, assistant county agent, was in charge of he group, with Mrs. D. D. * Miller, a leader of the Washingon club, as chaperone.
