'5tite”'4-h Shpri Course is held
tending arrive on Monday from all over the State. The All Stars meet the week end before and stay 10 days. They help members get rooms, -carry luggage and help with registration. An assenfbly is held Monday night after supper, and classes stant •on Tuesday. Some State contests are Tun off at Short Course, so you way see the State winners in your project .give his demonstration. Besides project teaching you got social dancing, square dancing, record books, manners and junior leadership. Everything you learn can be brought back and used in -your dub. - _After lunch am assembly is held and State winners are announced, awards^ given and delegate* to foreigncountries, camps and Club Congress give talks and reports. Young people visiting the U.S. under the International Foreign. Youth Exchange program give talks*on ^their lands and about their stay in the U. S.
After assembly . tours are * ronducted of the campus, those who wish may swim or play baseball. One evening the tractor driving conftst is held to pick the State winner. Those who wish to appear on the talent show go for tryouts. One -evening a tea is held so members can meet officers of the Short Course, visitors and the faculty of the college. Everyone wears his 'best and if you think farm boys and girls can’t dress up you just ought to see them ! After supper, which is served as all the meals,, in the college dining hall, vespers are held. 4-H members help * conduct vespers and also assemblies. Vespers are followed by an| hour of folk games on the drill field. After this, night assembly is he4d. All assemblies are opened with group singing and one really gets a 4-H feeling, hearing a thousand boys and girls singing the 4-H hymn, “Give to me the 4-H to guide my ways and lead me onward," or making the rafters ring with “Over hill, over dale we will find the 4-H trail." One night (the program is the Big Talent Shoiw. Winners in the Recreation and Rural Arts "project compete for the prize. Winners are sent out entertain^ at Club Congress. Every sont of act front acrobatic dancing to readings are on this program and Eric Lund, of Lynchburg radio, is master o£ ceremonies. .»
