The Executive Board of the Rappahannock Farmers Market approved a leasing agreement on May 3 with the Flatwood Trust for the property on Route 211 next to the new Coop building where the Farmers Market will be held, beginning this weekend. In ceremonies scheduled for Saturday, May 12, at 10 a.m., Col. E. P. Luke, chairman of the county board of supervisors, and Bradford Fisher, vice-mayor of Washington, will cut the ribbon and officially open the market.
Despite the cool spring weather that has limited the amount of fresh vegetables available this early in the season, the market will offer a wide choice. Offerings will include onions, radishes, lettuce, rhubarb and tomato, cabbage and broccoli plants.
