Guy Foster said he knew of families that either sent their children to private schools or moved out of the county because of the situation at RCH?. "I want Rappahannock students to enter college on equal footing with students from Culpeper and Warren Counties,” he said. “That’s a big concern among many parents here.”

Sharon Kilpatrick suggested that a referendum be taken to determine community support for the proposed high school expansion.

“That’s an option of the supervisors,” Bloomer replied. He commended Dick Latham, supervisor from Jackson District, for his attendance at the meeting, adding that he’d also been contacted by another supervisor to go over the capital outlay plans.

“I didn’t come here to be commended,” Latham replied. “I came to be informed.”

The board of supervisors will review the school board’s capital outlay proposals at a special budget meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 15, at 2 p.m. in the court house.
