Instead of ranking the elementary school expansion second, implementation of a horticulture program at the high school should have second priority, she said. The trailers in the proposed 197980 school budget could be used to temporarily relieve space needs at the elementary school after the high school expansion is completed and final decision on building at the elementary school could be postponed until the school board received feedback from the 1980 census and the next school census, she concluded.
The board took no action on Mrs. Kilpatrick’s request that the vote approving the alternative to the building program be considered.
Later in the meeting, Paul Nichols, the only board member to vote against the slashed building program alternative, reintroduced a motion to include the green house and horticulture classroom in the capital outlay project endorsed by the board. His motion died for lack of second.
