Woodard
Mrs. Bessie Alther Woodard, 84, of Sperryville died Friday, May 25,1979, at Page Memorial Hospital in Luray. Graveside services were conducted Sunday at the Sperryville Cemetery by the Rev. Ray Campbell.
Mrs. Woodard was the widow of Charles Hubert Woodard. A native of Sperryville, she was the daughter of the late Jake and Molly Alther.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Kathry Griffith of Luray and Mrs. Virginia Woodard of Norfolk; a son, Wilson Woodard of Sperryville; three grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, George Alther and Jonas Alther, both of Sperryville; and three sisters, Mrs. Virgie Pullen and Miss Emma Alther, both of Sperryville, and Miss Ollie Alther of Washington, D. C.
Gehringer
Graduates
Dawn K. Gehringer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby D. Gehringer of Flint Hill, will gradute Saturday, June 9, during Virginia Tech’s 107th commencement. Dawn will receive a bachelor of art degree in elementary education. Correspondent Eric Sevareid will deliver the main address at the commencement ceremonies in Lane Stadium.
