For a rural area, Rappahannock County shines with culture. We have a choral society, dance groups, opera at the old Washington school, poetry readings and slide trips through China and Australia at the library and we have the Community Concert Association.

Currently celebrating its tenth anniversary, the Association presents a year of musical entertainment from high brow 4a flute and harp concert) to low brow (the 1920’s jazz sounds of Jelly Roll Morton) with stops in between. Presentations from past years include the Joffrey Ballet, broadway hits like Shenandoah and 1776, Eastern European folk music and dances performed in costume by the Tamburitzans, the Richmond Symphonia, light opera by Jack Trussel and the Texas Boys Choir.

The Association is supported by music lovers in Rappahannock, Culpeper, Madison, Orange and Fauquier Counties who subscribe to season membership at a cost that breaks down to little more than the price of admission at local movie theaters.
