Washington. After Mahoney crashed his car into a bank on Fodderstack Road, he abandoned the vehicle and a passenger and continued to flee on foot. Witnesses report that Front Royal police fired several shots but Mahoney excaped capture and was arrested later that night after being treated for a gunshot wound at Warren Memorial Hospital.
Charges of felonious assault and driving on a revoked license have been filed against Mahoney in Warren County. He's also been charged with reckless driving and failure to stop for a police officer in Front Royal town warrants. In addition. Front Royal policeman Kevin W. Windle has filed charges of attempting to disable or kill against Mahoney in Rappahannock County.
Following a preliminary hearing on Friday, May 18, Mahoney was certified to the Grand Jury on the assault charges lodged against him in Rappahannock.
