situated on Koute L\\ just outside of Washington at a convenient stopping place for tourists, Mike Brown’s B and B Gulf station has been operating with a 90 per cent allocation of the gas received in the previous five months.
Shortages felt by B and B’s Culpeper distributor have been passed on down to the station, according to chief mechanic Mike Cave. He added that the station had run out of both regular and lead free gasoline several times during the past month and as a result, had cut back on hours slightly. “If we’ve got only a couple hundred gallons of regular left Sunday afternoon, we’ll close early to make sure we have enough for people to get to work on Monday morning,” he said, noting that B and B would try foremost to have sufficient gas for the needs of local customers.
Shell station operators Thomas Baldwin at West End Shell in Sperryville and Harvey Gordon at H and J on Route 231 reported that they’re getting the same amount of gas as last year from their suppliers and have no plans to alter hours. “I’m getting all the gas I can sell,” said Gordon.
