Mrs. Fountain is the president this year of the Rappahannock County Education Association. At the beginning of the year there were high hopes that with such a respected lady, the Board would be receptive to what the Association was saying. But, alas, such was not the case. Not even to her would they listen.
The other case is altogether different. Mr. Terry Finch is a fine young teacher and person. I have talked with him on different occasions and am impressed with his character. He is also a fine coach of Cross Country and Track.
Mr. Finch was recommended by his principal to be re hired for the coming year but the Board refused to do so. No reason has to be given teachers as to why they are not going to be rehired and so the Board gave him none. It is believed by many that the reason is related to an unfortunate set of circumstances experienced by Mr. Finch that were personally embarrasing to him. Many feel the School Board felt it was too embarrassing to them to keep him on the faculty.
