Patricia A. Atkins, daughter of Cecil E. Atkins of Washington and the late Mrs. Atkins, and Alvin D. Grigsby, son of Mrs. Dudley Grigsby of Castleton and the late Mr. Grigsby, were married May 19, 1979, in Thornton's Gap Baptist Church by the Rev. Kirby Shenk. Carol Atkins was pianist.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a full length gown of imported organza over peau de soie, designed with am empire waistline and full bishop sleeves. The high neckline and hemline were edged with Chantilly lace and matching lace complimented the waistline and cuffs. The chapel train fell from a bowin the back. Her elbow length veil of illusion was attached to a crown of Chantilly lace and seed pearls. She carried a cascade of red rose buds, white carnations and baby's breath.
Margaret Lam of Elkton was honor attendant and John Grigsby of Front Royal was best man. Ushers were Jim Magee of Amissville and Roy Leake of Sperryville.
