Reporting on a conversation several weeks ago with Robert Eastham, Mrs. Lilo Foster said the incumbent had insisted he would not accept appointment for more than his original four-year term. “He said they could get down on their knees and beg him and he wouldn’t accept.”
Charlotte Tummeyer, a life-long resident of Wakefield District, noted Guy Foster’s involvement with the schools and his concern for education. She reported that she personally had collected many of the signatures on petitions in his favor “and I didn’t have to twist anyone's arm.”
Speaking out for his own candidacy, Guy Foster noted what a diffucult and controversial job it is to serve on a school board. Citing his qualifications as part of a management team for Boise Cascade, Foster said he's worked “for a livelihood” with operating budgets, organized and unorganized labor (including problems with drugs, alcohol, tardiness and discipline) and federal programs and agencies.
