Dr. Werner Krebser from Huntly presented the trustees with petitions carrying signatures of 255 Wakefield District residents in support of Guy Foster. Krebser pointed out the animosity and controversy that has marked school board meetings since the appointment last year of Wakefield representative Robert Eastham.
“The school sysrem, particularly the school children, is suffering,’' he maintained, adding that children are the county's biggest asset. ‘‘They won't amount to anything if they're not taught well and in the right atmosphere," he said.
Foster, age 38. was born and raised in Rappahannock and has three children in the county’s public school system, Krebser continued. He pointed out that Foster, president of the Rappahannock Athletic Association, has demonstrated his interest and involvement with youngsters by his volunteer efforts in * organizing sports programs, specifically Rappahannock's only county-wide summer baseball program for youngsters.
From his position in management in the building industry with Boise Cascade. Krebser said, Foster is uniquely qualified to serve on the school board at a time when a capital outlay program of school expansion is being considered.
