To the editor:
Those who appeared on Friday night to support Mr. Guy Foster and Mr. Charles Eldred, and who presented petitions indicating broad community support for their elections to the school board must accept with humility the fact that their appeals fell on deaf ears. The outrage and injury felt by many citizens who attended the May 23 meeting of the School Trustee Electoral Board must not be allowed to fester and poison community relations. After some soul-searching, I decided that the shock 1 experienced was owing to a sense of being heartlessly ignored by persons whom unaccountable power has hardened - unknowingly, perhaps, but surely.
The afternoon before the meeting, word had gotten around the county that the decision had already been made to reappoint Mr. Robert Eastham and to replace Mr. Charles Eldred. What happened at the meeting seemed to confirm the idea that the action taken had been previously determined and that the meeting itself was a sham insofar as
