Savage maintained that denial of camper hook-ups will work “an exceeding hardship” on those attending the camp meetings. He noted lack of hotel and motel facilities in the area, the expense of driving back and forth to overnight accomodations in other communities and the cost of the accomodations themselves. If visiting preachers have to commute to the campgrounds, they might not make it there in time for the meeting and services would have to go on without them. Savage said, noting that most of the camper users are Pentacostal ministers.

Speaking on behalf of those opposed to the variance. Mrs. Doris Donald handed out copies of a letter from the state health department dated May 20. The letter reported that Savage had contacted the health department to request an inspection on March 22, 1980, and then met David Alexander from the Culpeper office at the site on March 28.
