Admiral Gardiner’s assertion that no decision from the BZA would make all parties happy. “If I’m late for work because of this meeting and I'm driving 60 miles an hour and get stopped by a trooper, he’s not going to try to make me happy,” Grigsby said. Rather, the trooper will apply the law—an example Grigsby proposed for the BZA to follow.
Gardiner announced that the BZA would issue a permit with restrictions for just this year's camp meeting from June 20-28 and would then send the matter back to the board of supervisors for clarification of all points brought up during the two BZA sessions.
Savage maintained that with 150 to 400 people attending the camp meeting services, some amplification of sound was needed.
BZA member Pete Estes asked if 400 would be the maximum crowd.
