Irresponsible
To the editor:
Thank you Mr. Johnson, Thank you Mr. Eastham. You have just demonstrated your narrow-mindedness and short-sightedness to the residents of Wakefield District and the rest of Rappahannock County.
You have placed Robert Eastham back on the School Board. Here is a man who won’t even educate himself as to proper conduct in a business meeting, who creates dissension and distrust, who would offer our children the least possible and to some, nothing at all.
You will not be saving our tax money this way. You probably will cost us all an enormous increase.
When Rappahannock children realize that the leaders of the community and their own indifferent parents consider education unimportant they will act accordingly.
Since it doesn’t matter whether they learn anything or not as long as the state officials aren’t after us, why should they try?
Some will become dropouts. And when our taxes increase to pay for more welfare for young unskilled adults and for more law enforcement to keep disillusioned kids under control, don’t wonder why. It will be because we didn’t care about them to begin with.
Quality education in Rappahannock can be had without mortgaging the county if its officials, its parents and its children are willing to work for it and to expect nothing less.
