The right of School Trustee Electoral Board Members to conceal the representations made to them by undisclosed parties whose wishes proved over-riding, and their right to act without explaining and justifying the discharge of their authority may be undisputed. But such exercise of those rights in the face of considerable public -.in volvement seemed arrogant. an4~ -V the powerlessness of citizens to affect school policy was ruthlessly affirmed.
We are told that people deser * the government they get. Fortunately, there will be an opportunity for voters to express their wishes on June 17, when the referendum on school board appointments will be held. If you expect to be away on June 17. vote absentee now at the Registrar's office on Thursdays. And if you will be here June 17. be sure to vote yes on the referendum question. Speak to everyone you know who can vote; take responsibility to help the referendum succeed.
Let’s have more representative public business because we deserve to be represented. Let's use the experience of May 23 to spur us to good and responsible citizenship rather than to let ourselves give way to despair.
